2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Join us for our 2nd annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday, December 1, at 6:30 pm! This will take place at our newly planted 15+ foot Evergreen tree, located at the corner of Main and Mill Street, on the courthouse square. Please arrive a few minutes early, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, and be on hand to celebrate the initial lighting of the tree! Hometown Harmony will join us by singing Christmas carols and the Waterloo Lions will provide cookies – it’s an old-fashioned, fun event!

We’ll also announce the Christmas Walk Winners, Lamppost decorating contest winners, and the winner of the Storefront Decorating Contest!

First Annual Waterloo Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Join us on Thursday, December 3rd, 6:30 pm, for the 1st Annual Official Waterloo Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, taking place at the Monroe County Courthouse Square at the corner of Mill and Main Street.

The Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is pleased to coordinate this new tradition, which will include a 20ft real Christmas tree, adorned with 4,000 Christmas lights and a Christmas star tree topper.

The tree will arrive in Waterloo with the Waterloo Optimists’ annual Christmas trees, and will be installed by the City of Waterloo. Monroe County Electric Co-Operative will decorate the tree with 4,000 Christmas lights to finish the look!

Special thanks to George Obernagel for sponsoring the Christmas tree, and to the Monroe County Commissioners for permission to display the tree on the courthouse square.

Hot Chocolate will be served. Please join us as we light the tree!
