The Great War

Travis Stipes will speak on the diorama he has created

of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of WWI

September 27 at 6:30 p.m.

at Morrison-Talbott Library, 215 Park, Waterloo.

Stipes’ diorama will be on display for viewing until Veteran’s Day in November. When asked why he made the diorama he stated:  “I’d like to pay homage and respect to the American and German lives lost during the war.”

Stipes has a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  He also has a keen interest in military history with a focus on the early 20th century.

The diorama is a 1/72 scale model of one of the principal engagements of the United States Army during WWI, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. His talk will include a brief history of the war and highlight some of the new technologies and concepts that arose from it.
