Morrison-Talbott Library, 215 Park Street, Waterloo, will host Rick Gregory for a program on Gardening for Practically No Cost April 29, 2014 at 7 p.m. Gregory is the Site Supervisor for Southwestern Illinois College’s East St. Louis Community College Center.

Rick Gregory will discuss and demonstrate a no-till “lasagna” gardening technique, which uses organic matter and other resources from your home and yard to grow a garden. In addition, he will show how you can use whatever size of gardening space available to provide a summertime of fresh produce through container gardening, vertical gardening and other creative gardening ideas.

Gregory states, “I see my gardening presentation as in essence “an exchange of gardening information”. I find that everybody who has ever worked the soil, planted a seed and grown a vegetable can teach me something new about gardening.”

This program is provided by the Southwestern Illnois College’s Speakers Bureau, who offers presentations on more than 200 topics. Their speakers are individuals who have/or do work for SWIC and have agreed to give their presentations, free of charge, to schools, civic and professional organizations and community groups within SWIC’s service area.
