First of Six concerts in New Downtown Concert Series Set for May 6!

The Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present a new downtown concert series, scheduled to begin the evening of May 6, 8-11 pm, following the MayFest.

Once a month between May and October, the Downtown Concert Series will feature a different band. The schedule for 2017 is as follows:

Saturday, May 6; 8-11pm – Father Jack

Sunday, June 11; 4-7 pm – Scrambled

Sunday, July 9; 4-7 pm – The Trophy Mules

Sunday, August 13; 4-7 pm – Burnt Toast and the Jam

Sunday, September 10; 3:30-7 pm – O.O.P.A. , The Sofa Kings

Saturday, October 14; 8-11pm – Riverside

Food options will be available along Mill Street, starting an hour before the concert is scheduled to begin. Bring your blanket and chairs, and grab a great spot to enjoy the concert!

4th Annual MayFest

Join us Saturday, May 6 for the 4th annual MayFest, taking place in beautiful downtown Waterloo at the Courthouse square! You’ll enjoy listening to 6 different bands throughout the day. While there, be sure to visit all of the artisans, crafters, and local businesses at their booths.

Bring the children to play some games and enjoy the day with you! Helping Strays will be on site with a pet adoption event too!

There will be several food options as well, so come hungry!

At 11 am, we’ll have the first ever mascot obstacle course, which should be  a lot of fun!

At Noon, we’ll recognize the winners of our Youth Community Service Award.

It is going to be a great day!

MayFest Musician Applications Due April 3 – Turn yours in today!

A friendly reminder to our local musicians – The MayFest musician application deadline is Monday, April 3. Turn in your application before then to be considered. The MayFest is an annual festival, hosted by the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, that highlights local musical talent. The event also features local artisans, antique and vintage dealers, small businesses, retail vendors, crafters, and more. (Vendor applications, including those selling food items, are also being accepted.) The event takes place on the first Saturday in May (May 6), in beautiful downtown Waterloo, IL at the Monroe County Courthouse square.

Youth Community Service Award Nomination Period

Youth Community Service Award – Nominate a Worthy Youth Today!

The Waterloo Chamber of Commerce invites you to nominate a young person for the Youth Community Service Award, which will be presented at the annual May Fest, taking place on the first Saturday in May at the Monroe County Courthouse Bandstand.

All nominees will be reviewed, with the winning youth selected by a committee.

The deadline for applications is April 1.

The following represents the criteria for the award:

  • Nominee must be a youth enrolled in junior high or high school
  • Nominee must be a resident within the Waterloo School District (Note: Includes home schooled & private schooled students)
  • Nominations should come from non-relatives of the nominee

To nominate a youth, go to www.enjoywaterloo.com and click on the Forms menu/Youth Community Service Award.

Complete the nomination form and submit it by April 1. The recipients will each receive $100 and a certificate. Multiple recipients will be recognized.

Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Annual Trivia Night

2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Join us for our 2nd annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday, December 1, at 6:30 pm! This will take place at our newly planted 15+ foot Evergreen tree, located at the corner of Main and Mill Street, on the courthouse square. Please arrive a few minutes early, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, and be on hand to celebrate the initial lighting of the tree! Hometown Harmony will join us by singing Christmas carols and the Waterloo Lions will provide cookies – it’s an old-fashioned, fun event!

We’ll also announce the Christmas Walk Winners, Lamppost decorating contest winners, and the winner of the Storefront Decorating Contest!

 

Waterloo’s Christmas on the Square Weekend – November 26-27

Mark your calendars and join us for Waterloo’s Annual Christmas on the Square Weekend! Enjoy an old-fashioned, hometown feel of a great tradition – perfect for the entire family!

Saturday and Sunday, November 26-27

Waterloo Christmas Walk – Visit all 12 participating merchants, have your card stamped at each location, drop off your completed card at the last shop you visit, and be entered to win a portion of $1,000 in gift cards! Drawing will be held Thursday, December 1, 6:30pm on the corner of Main and Mill Street at the official lighting of the Waterloo Christmas tree!

Golfers, join us for our annual Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, taking place Thursday, September 15th, Noon, at Mystic Oak Golf Course! 3rd Annual May Music & Market Festival – May 7th

Get ready for a great day of music, games, shopping, food, and fun! The 3rd Annual May Music & Market Festival takes place Saturday, May 7th, 9am-4pm at the Monroe County Courthouse Square. We will have 6 LIVE musical groups performing at the historic bandstand throughout the day! Bring your lawn chairs, sit a spell, and enjoy the sweet sounds!

First National Bank of Waterloo will have a Shred Truck at the corner of Market and Mill Street from 9 – Noon, so be sure to bring your discarded papers.

Helping Strays will host an adoption event, and several local businesses will provide children’s games.

We will have food and beverage vendors on hand to tempt your taste buds!

And of course, there will be many artisans, crafters, retailers, vintage dealers, and more for your shopping pleasure!
